What
are the differences among the different styles of umbrellas?
Patio Umbrellas
Patio umbrellas are, as the name suggests, generally for home use on a
patio or deck, set in a table or standing alone. They are distinguished
by valances that provide extra shade and wind protection. Sometimes called
Standard umbrellas, they are the most economical choice for a good residential
umbrella.
Market Umbrellas
Market umbrellas feature wind vents instead of valances. They allow for
better visibility, which might be important in an outdoor restaurant setting.
They are more durable than Patio umbrellas and have a slightly higher
price.
Beach Umbrellas
Beach umbrellas have valances like Patio umbrellas, but they have a pointed
bottom pole for holding them in the sand. Most Beach umbrellas do not
have a tilt option to keep them stable in ocean breezes.
Commercial (Premimum) Umbrellas
Commercial umbrellas are our premium line. They are the umbrellas of choice
for those wanting the most durable frame features. They come in both standard
and market styles and can be purchased singly or in quantity. They are
the choice for restaurants and cafes or anyone who wants a superior product.

What umbrella type is best for me?
If cost is a factor, standard crank & tilt Patio umbrellas are less
expensive than Market umbrellas.
Umbrellas with fiberglass
ribs are outstanding at absorbing wind gusts without breaking, and last
four to five times longer than traditional wood or aluminum ribs.
If your umbrella will be used in a windy environment, you might want to
consider a Market umbrella, which comes with a vent for extra protection.
The standard crank & tilt umbrella can have a vent added for an additional
cost. Vents allow moving air to escape from underneath, making a more
stable umbrella.
Of course, if you are buying umbrellas that will have to withstand weather
conditions constantly (and not be often taken down and set up again),
Commerical (Premium) Umbrellas are the best choice.
What is the best way for me to lengthen the life of my umbrella?
Our umbrellas are made from highly durable frames and fabrics. They should
provide continuous use for many years.
However, the most important thing you can do to extend its life is to
always crank down your umbrella when not in use. Store your umbrella in
a safe place in off-season or during inclement weather.
Which fabric is right for me?
We offer two grades of umbrella fabric: Standard grade
(Furniture grade) and Premium grade (Awning grade).
Our Standard grade fabrics are 100% solution-dyed acrylic and have a 3-year,
limited warranty.
Our Premium grade fabrics are also 100% solution-dyed acrylic but have
a have a 5-year, limited warranty.
What
sort of color choices do I have?
We offer a nearly unlimited selection of fabric colors. Your umbrella
can be made with alternating colors or, in the case of a Market Umbrella,
with a second color for the vent.
What are the differences in lift and crank
options?
Popup umbrellas are pushed opened manually and are usually
held in place by a retractable button.
Manual tilt umbrellas: This feature allows you to position
the umbrella at 35 and 45 degrees by simply pressing the inner locking
push button. The locking system ensures that the umbrella holds its position.
Auto-tilt umbrellas: When the umbrella is opened to its
fullest, merely turning the handle will allow the frame mechanism to tilt
the umbrella up to 45 degrees automatically for you. You can always return
the umbrella to a full upright position.
Pulley & Pin: Although many aluminum umbrellas have cranks
as a mechanism to raise and lower the umbrella, most wood patio umbrellas
have a push up mechanism or pulley & pin type of feature to raise
the umbrella. Pulley & pin type umbrellas are not
recommended for use in commercial applications.
